Ademiku Adeleye - UPG Champion
Ademiku Adeleye is a first-generation university graduate from Nigeria with over seven years of dedicated volunteer experience focused on SDGs 2 and 4. Recognized as a Top 3 Transformational Youth Leader by the United Nations Association-Nigeria, his impact has reached 15,000 youths across 13 states through a single project in Nigeria (2021).
Mentoring youths through personalized guidance and his YouTube channel, “Global Opportunities and Goal,” Ademiku has helped five scholars secure over £200,000 in scholarships and other global opportunities in 2024. He is a member of several influential global organizations, and leverages his communication, administrative, and collaborative skills for community development, sharing global opportunities, inspiring youth, and advocating for marginalized communities while promoting the United Nations SDGs.
Recently shortlisted for the Outstanding Community Impact in Volunteer Student Award and the Edinburgh Award at the University of Edinburgh, Ademiku is also a mentor for The Princess Diana Award and IntoUniversity, UK. Currently serving as the Postgraduate School Representative at the University of Edinburgh while pursuing studies in Food Security, he has published three peer-reviewed articles in international journals.
With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, Ademiku aims to address the escalating food crisis in developing communities and worldwide. Embodying resilience, enthusiasm, and leadership, he is currently focused on establishing a sustainable food system for internally displaced persons, promoting sustainable growth, and increasing local farmers’ income.
