FAQ

I have just signed up, where are my instructions? What do I do next?

Welcome. You should receive a welcome message that highlights a few things. In this community you are free and independent. Do exactly what you would do if you just moved into a new home: look around and make yourself comfortable. Update your profile and create your own space to reflect who you are. Meet other people, check out discussions, groups and activities. Read and learn.

If you don’t see anything that you like, then create something. Depending on what you want to create, you may have to wait a little for your “trust level” to go up first.

Whenever you are ready to sign up for different things, then go ahead and sign up. From time to time you will receive opportunities posted in community spaces or directly from the UPG Foundation. You can always choose to opt in if you want.

Welcome again!

Do we hug trees?

Yes and No. Some of us like hugging trees and some of us don’t, it’s okay.

Do we do strategy?

Yes. We take our mission seriously.

Do we have fun?

Yes. All work and no play …well you know. And since fun without strategy does not last very long, then putting strategy first is an important part of making sure that we can actually have fun that lasts.

What is a Champion?

A Champion is a member of the UPG community who makes a commitment to be a champion of UPG’s mission. Specifically, to be a champion for the power of people to make the world a better place. Champions make everything possible through their commitment and their funding. This is why we are not owned/controlled/influenced by advertisers and we don’t sell anyone’s data. Above all, Champions understand that UPG’s mission is about serving all people, regardless of their level of commitment. Is this for you? You can apply here: www.unitedpeople.global/champions/apply

Can I post a project that I am working on?

Yes

Can I post my project for free?

Yes

Are you sure?

Yes

How does UPG fund its activities?

Our activities are funded through our Champions, Supporters and also through specific funding for programmes, as well as through donations. Learn more here: www.unitedpeople.global/build

I want to do much more! Can I support UPG locally or globally?

Yes you can! If you would like to be even more involved, then please consider becoming a Champion. Our champions are as diverse as our world; what unites us, is a shared commitment. As a Champion, you can get involved in many or in a few activities. And you can vary your participation over time. Apply here: www.unitedpeople.global/champions/apply

Do we do violent confrontations?

No. We do not support violence of any kind.

I am a “Conservative”. Can I join?

Do you want to make the world a better place and believe that all people can contribute? If the answer is Yes, then yes you can join! Our community is made up of people from all walks of life who believe in our mission.

What if I don’t agree with other members of the community?

This happens to all of us. We all understand that we must make space for each other and we can respecfully agree to disagree. It is not easy, but we can all learn and help each other to disagree without being disagreeable.

What is the most important contribution that I can make?

Please be yourself.

Why are you doing this?

United People Global exists, and we are all doing this, because we care about helping people to make the world a better place. Champions on every continent and in communities around the world are happy that we have a safe space for people who want to make the world a better place. Learn more here.

How Can I help?

  1. First sign up for UPG:

– As a member of the Community, it is free and it will always be free.

– If you want to do more than the minimum: then please become a Champion! As a Champion you can continue to be engaged as much (or as little) as you would like. And you can work with like-minded people to strengthen UPG. And the cost is affordable. If you cannot afford it, then let us know and we will look for funds to pay your fee for a full year. Apply here: www.unitedpeople.global/champions/apply

  1. Recommend Individuals and Organisations to become Champions. UPG is still young and so our early supporters will rely on the good word of people they know, like you. Please recommend passionate, competent and reliable people because we are still young and we need all the love that we can get. If you have recommended someone, then please let us know by getting in touch: https://unitedpeople.global/contact-us/. Remember that if they do not want to be champions, then people and organisations can still join for free as Members.

3. Brainstorm: send us regular thoughts and ideas for anything that we can do to bring any of UPG’s four pillars to life. SHARE Ideas: Do you have any ideas for what people can or should be doing to make the world a better place? Bring your passion, your ideas to the community. You can always run it completely on your own as your own activity. If you want, and with some support, then you can work to make it an official UPG activity and you can lead it.

  1. Log in regularly and say hello to people, especially the newest Members and Champions.
