Elyse Ihirwe - UPG Champion
Elyse Ihirwe is a passionate Rwandan healthcare professional dedicated to transforming lives through innovative and sustainable solutions. She holds a Master’s degree in Global Health Delivery, specializing in Gender, Sexual, and Reproductive Health from the University of Global Health Equity, and a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from Mount Kenya University. Elyse recently completed a fellowship in Entrepreneurial and Venture Creation from Allan and Gill Gray Philanthropies and received a grant to launch Griiinly Ltd.
As the COO and co-founder of Griiinly Ltd., Elyse is committed to fostering a greener, more sustainable world. Griiinly focuses on reducing carbon emissions, repurposing waste products, and providing accessible, eco-friendly energy solutions. Elyse integrates her passion for sustainability with her commitment to improving public health.
One of her most rewarding projects was the Zipline Pads Delivery Initiative, which provided menstrual hygiene products to thousands of women in remote areas of Rwanda and Ghana.
Her research on the feasibility of implementing the Jada Device, a portable, non-invasive device for treating postpartum hemorrhage, in Rwanda has also been instrumental in addressing maternal health challenges.
Her previous roles at Zipline Rwanda Ltd. as a Health and Fulfillment Operator and Quality Control Lead have provided her with extensive experience in project management, operational efficiency, and community engagement. These experiences have strengthened her ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive positive change.
Elyse’s mission is to foster innovation, promote health equity, and enhance community well-being through data-driven solutions and strategic leadership. She is dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality for underserved populations and creating a healthier, more equitable world.
