Ruth Ede - UPG Champion

Ruth Ede, a Green Agriculturist and Founder of Scratop Nigeria Limited (SNL), was awarded for promoting biowaste utilization and regenerative agriculture. Her startup converts bio-wastes into nutrient-rich bio-fertilizers for safe food crop production.

Ruth has won several awards, including the Innovate4Africa Catch Creativity Challenge (I4ACC) (2021), Nigeria’s Overall Winner and Global Runner-up at the Denmark 2022 Global Food Safety Challenge, Overall Winner of the Goshen Impact Fund (GIF) (2023), Anambra State Winner of SMEDAN Waste to Wealth (SW2W) (2023), 2024 Overall Winner of the AYuTe Africa Challenge (AYAC), amongst others.

Ruth is an alumnus of the Jim Leech MC Fellowship at Queen’s University, Canada (2023). As part of her corporate social responsibility and green campaign, she convenes the Scratop Summit and leads the Earlier the Greener Initiative to educate, empower, and engage young people in sustainability.

Ruth was the best graduating student and holds a distinction in Agricultural Extension and Management from the Federal College of Land Resources and Technology, Owerri, Imo State (2015). She was also the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Agricultural Education, Class of 2020, at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture.

She is a graduate of the Future Females Business School (UK Nigeria Business Institute) and has certifications from the Enterprise Development Center, Pan-Atlantic University. Ruth is a published poet, public speaker, SDG and food safety advocate, and purveyor of knowledge.
