In 2019 and 2021 we successfully trained over 580 UPG Sustainability Leaders from 108 countries around the world. Those young leaders have been taking local action within their communities to make the world a better place, and they have directly trained over 14,000 citizens across all world regions (and counting). You can learn more about UPG Sustainability Leadership here (https://upglive.org/UPGSustainability). We are thrilled and ready to train the next class of ambassadors and warriors for positive citizen leadership on sustainability. This may be you, or someone that you know, please read and/or share the link to this application page.
What we are looking for: We are building a diverse group of people who want to take positive action that helps the world tackle sustainability challenges. UPG agrees that sustainability includes BOTH the usual "green" issues such as planting trees, recycling waste, managing energy, protecting the oceans AND it also includes other issues that have been central to our societies for a long time such as education, health, jobs, gender equality, sustainable consumption, sustainable production and more. For those who are familiar with it, UPG uses the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide.
Diversity among UPG Sustainability LeadersUPG Sustainability Leaders include:
- people who are passionate in a specific area (e.g. jobs or education or oceans), there is no need to be passionate in all areas.
- people who have already taken action related to sustainability AND people who have NEVER taken action
- people from all world regions
- people aged 18 to 35 on 1 October 2022
- people of different levels of education
- people who have a strong motivation to be UPG Sustainability Leaders
- people who are willing and able to take action on sustainability
- people who believe in UPG’s mission to empower people to make the world a better place through positive action.
Finally this diversity means that everyone stands a chance when we make the selection of the final UPG Sustainability Leaders. Please note that your age is minimum 18 years or maximum 35 years on 1 October 2022. This ensures that all participants are within this age group for the duration of the training and experiences that are planned. Please also note that candidates are required to be able to speak, read and write in English as the training is conducted in English.
A. Profile - who are you? This helps us to strive for diversity.
B. Motivation - why do you want to be a UPG Sustainability Leader?
C. Capability - how capable are you to do what you want to do?
D. Potential for Impact - what is the potential of your early ideas?
As part of this application it is strongly recommended that you submit a short video (maximum 2 minutes) to answer any of the questions from any section above or to tell us more about yourself. Among other things, the video helps us evaluate your English language skills. You may submit that video by including a link to the video in the application now (there is a section in the application for this). Or you may complete the application first and mention that you will do the video later. And then submit a link to your video here: https://upglive.org/sharecontent. For your video to be considered it must be submitted by the deadline.
