All nominations are welcome. Nominations from organisations give applicants a GREATER advantage (i.e. more evaluation points) as organisations can often provide stronger support towards the eventual success of the goals and objectives of the applicant. Consequently 100 places in the upcoming Class are saved for applicants who are nominated by an organisation. Applicants who are nominated by an individual also score more evaluation points, however not as many as those who are nominated by an organisation.

UPG Biashara is an initiative that supports entrepreneurs in their journey to turn ideas into businesses. It is open to ANYONE and selected applicants will learn how to kick start a business and also how to refine potential business ideas that will impact them and their communities. It is also open to those who are growing and strengthening existing businesses. So whether you are an entrepreneur already or you simply want to learn about entrepreneurship, your application is welcome. As an individual or an organisation that is nominating an applicant, you are also free to nominate ANYONE. UPG Biashara is FREE for those who are chosen and so UPG reviews the applications carefully to select the most deserving (and the most motivated) entrepreneurs. We are pleased to share a special opportunity for organisations that can make a difference for both the organisation and the entrepreneur.

Organisations are invited to nominate / endorse applicants for #UPGBiashara. Selected candidates are trained for FREE with skills that make entrepreneurs stronger. They are required to fulfill some objectives after the training, including:
* Conduct a mini-training session and teach some of the entrepreneurship skills that they have learned to citizens in their communities.

We have saved 100 places (20% of the class) for candidates who have the support of at least one organisation - a company, a nonprofit, or an institution. The support of the organisation strengthens their capacity to make an impact after the training - this increases their chances of being selected. The candidate that you nominate will have better chances to get access to a global community of like-minded and highly motivated entrepreneurs. Your support may change this person's life.

Conduct at least 1 mini-training session within their community: UPG Biashara Entrepreneurs give back by training others in some of the entrepreneurship skills that they have learned. This helps to change the perception of entrerpeneurs in our communities and to hopefully create a positive impression. These mini-training sessions are “classroom size” and typically reach about 30 people. The commitment is to deliver at least 1 such session. We know that some entrepreneurs will deliver sessions that reach, 50 or 100 people. And several will deliver more than one training session. Typical useful support ranges from providing a venue, or providing IT support, or providing an audience and other examples.

Start or Continue to Run their Businesses: Some UPG BIashara Entrepreneurs are already running businesses and some plan to start a business. While there is no requirement for them to start or continue their businesses, they are encouraged to do so. And so all the support that they can receive is welcome. Typical useful support ranges from providing mentorship, providing "in-kind" support (e.g. providing vehicles to support transportation, providing security, etc.), providing some funding for them or paying for specific costs, providing some expertise, patronising their business by placing orders for their goods or services and other examples.
