Yes! That is really who you are!

My name is Zara Ishfaq. I am from Pakistan, a country with breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and resilient people. Therefore, I also consider myself resilient and altruistic. I am studying in the most prestigious and old business school, Hailey College of Commerce. I am doing a BS in Commerce and I am in my fifth semester. I am an obedient and hardworking student. My academic life reflects my dedication and commitment to achieving excellence in everything. I am also a member of many societies at my college like the Hailey Entrepreneurial Club. Moreover, I recently participated in Hailey research week as a Volunteer and Moderator these roles helped me to understand the world is beyond money and how you feel satisfied helping others without your interest. If I talk about my strength it is for sure management, I have been practicing this strength for the past 2 years as I am the GR of my class and it is my responsibility to manage and resolve every issue with students and teachers. This role taught me how to navigate challenging situations with composure and remain calm without resorting to aggression. I am a very fun-loving person I love to spend time with people, especially with kids. When you spend time with kids you automatically forget all your problems and feel relieved. My goal in life is to become an assistant commissioner to contribute to society and return the resources that have supported me. Therefore, to conclude, I consider myself a responsible, motivated, and growth-driven individual who gives back to society and cares about society’s welfare. My sustainability commitment fits well with my vision of doing something positive with the use of resources to ensure betterment for our future generation of human beings and our planet at large.

My strengths are: Self Efficacy, Attention to detail, Active Listener, Empathy, Decision Maker

My Biggest Strength is “Decision-Making”. As I look back on my journey, I find out that making a timely decision is my biggest strength. Six years back I was struggling with my life as my mother was not well she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, at that time I was in Ninth standard and chose biology because I always wanted to be a doctor as time passed I faced many hardships taking care of mother all day, cooking food for my family, look after my brothers along with studies it was too difficult to handle. At that time I wanted to die because of all these this situation. Two years I spent in depression and when I had done my tenth standard I did not expect bad grades I even thought of suicide and that time I realized Zara your life problems and other life problems are different be brave and live your life again with all these problems. Then I decided to switch from science to Commerce, that was the hardest yet best decision of my life. I tackle all my life problems with great spirit. So that was the time I made the right decision in my life.
Now if I tell you when I recently used this ability, I Use this as my strength daily. As I am Gr for my class at University level. It’s been two years since I am GR. I have to solve daily conflicts among students and address students’ concerns and I have to make decisions that balance the needs of my peers. I have learned how to mediate issues without hurting others. I have to make assure that everyone’s voice is heard while maintaining harmony. So I think these are the best examples where my strength in decision-making is reflected. These experiences of my life have shaped me into a more decisive, empathetic, and resilient individual with confidence.

Yes, I have had the opportunity to volunteer. When I was in School we arranged a seminar on saving trees and in that seminar we taught everyone about the importance of growing and saving trees for our environment. My all class planted a tree in the ground of our school and until the end of my school journey, we took care of our plants and watered them because in my opinion only planting pants is not sufficient we have to daily look after them. In my university, I regularly teach financial accounting and taxation management to my seniors, classmates, and juniors free of cost. This experience has not only allowed me to strengthen my own understanding of the subject but also taught me the value of sharing knowledge and helping others succeed. It has improved my communication and teaching skills, making complex topics easier for others to grasp according to me it’s a sustainable practice because knowledge is useless until is is not spread and I genuinely feel satisfied after teaching students free of cost because I know when you do not have a money to pay your fees how it feel. I love to teach people because I never want anyone to cry like me I cried for my fees. Additionally, I assisted one of my university teachers by reviewing 150 companies’ annual reports, extracting financial data, and organizing it into an Excel sheet- all within a two-day deadline. Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of giving back, and how even small contributions can make a meaningful difference in others’ academic journeys. Recently I got the opportunity to Moderate in Hailey Research Week this experience also left a meaningful impact on my life. Moderating Research Week allowed me to engage with innovative research, including sustainability-focused projects, which broadened my understanding of environmental issues. It helped me develop leadership and communication skills, which are essential for advocating sustainability. This experience strengthened my ability to facilitate discussions and promote sustainable practices in future projects. These all are the main Voulenteer experience otherwise I believe daily you volunteer in your life, for example, give seat to an elder on a bus, helping someone to cross the road, giving food to street animals, etc I did all this but not find it necessary to include in my experiences because these are the good deeds you do for your Earth and your life. At the last I follow only one principle in my life “Do Good and Have Good”.

Secondary: I have completed secondary school

I would like to work on our youth, it is one of the SDGs of the United Nations which is quality Education. Youth unemployment is one of the major problems that the Pakistan is facing right now. To solve this problem, I am proposing a program called Youth Empowerment through Skills Development Initiative. This initiative will give skills to young people that they need to get jobs, raise self-awareness, and contribute to the growth of our communities. It will focus on two major components: the Skills Training Programs, offering practical skills like digital literacy, trades such as carpentry and plumbing, or soft skills like communication or teamwork; and Career Counseling and Mentorship, a guidance process to help youngsters in choosing their career interests, resume writing, preparation for interview, and linking with relevant mentors. And I have seen many young generation they really want to learn skill but they don’t know which skill match best with their interest. I will help them to know their best skill they can opt and teach them how they can earn from them We would employ a lot of surveys and focus groups to know what young people want to do and what they want to learn. There would also be partnerships formed with local businesses, vocational training centers, and schools where knowledge and resources are shared among them. The training programs will be designed in a manner that is simple to understand and fun to learn and apply. It will encourage the participants, and this is also because the local businesses will provide internships, and the schools will encourage the youth to join the program.
This project is important for fighting youth unemployment in Pakistan because it directly helps young people get the skills they need for good jobs. It also helps them understand themselves better so that they can make smart career choices. By helping young people gain skills, we are supporting the community and the economy, as skilled workers are more likely to come up with new ideas and contribute to society. In the end, this Youth Empowerment through Skills Development Initiative is a move toward solving youth unemployment and giving Pakistan’s young people the tool and support they need in order to succeed in a job market that is changing continuously. I really wanted to implement this project in my community.

As I plan to undertake the Youth Empowerment Through Skill Development Initiative project in the future, I anticipate several challenges. Firstly, raising awareness among students about the initiative will be a significant hurdle. To address this, I plan to promote the program within my own college, the College of Commerce, and expand it to government college students who often compromise on quality education and skill development. Additionally, I foresee challenges such as limited resources, student engagement, curriculum development, training and mentoring, assessment and evaluation, collaboration with government colleges, sustainability, and scalability. Well, because I will be doing this project in the future, I am also aware that financing the skills training and development for the students will be a significant challenge, given that I am still a student myself without financial independence. Securing funds to support the program and provide resources for the students will be a crucial obstacle to overcome.
