Yes! That is really who you are!
|
I am a 20-year-old fresh high school graduate from Pakistan, and I have immense passion for personal growth and community development. My life has been a learning curve where I actively took part in academic and extracurricular activities that groomed me into a well-rounded individual.
As an athlete, football and cricket have taught me teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, values I carry into all areas of my life. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new cultures, which has broadened my perspective and fueled my desire to engage in initiatives that connect people across borders.
Presently, I would like to make some contributions in an international setting and create aspirations in learning and personal development under the UPG program. I want to develop my skills in such areas that make me capable of having an impact on labor sectors at large, particularly on community support at grassroots levels, whether international or local.

Adaptability
Quick learning, coupled with adapting to the challenges and environments thrown up, draws me to the ever-changing nature of sustainability. I thrive in diversity, celebrating the different perspectives and approaches for problem-solving that come with it. This has made me resourceful, open-minded, and proactive for sustainable solutions tailored to individual community needs toward long-lasting positive impact.
|
Although I have not been in any formal volunteering, I’m enthusiastic about giving my time and energy to a good cause. My commitment to learning and helping others drives me to look for opportunities to volunteer in placement areas where I will have experience and skill building with positive impacts on the communities.

I would lead a project that focuses on **reducing plastic waste** by reusing materials and organizing clean-up drives within the community. Plastic pollution in my community is an important issue for both the environment and the public health. This project would create awareness on sustainable practices, thus encouraging behavioral change, while offering a cleaner, healthier environment to each.
|
Some of these challenges I will find difficult to handle or work at are “engaging the community”; and this is so because most people would need much convincing about taking an active part in sustainable behavior. Mainly so, when these persons are folks who live for convenience. What I would engage myself towards in addressing the problem would entail “education and raising of awareness” to drive, through social media and local gatherings, the truth concerning the various environmental effects occasioned upon the earth through plastic, as well as the advantages that are obtained with reusables thereof. Other hindrances towards this initiative include “lacking access to resources” such as materials needed for giving reusables to participants or those that join the competition. I would address this by working with local businesses or organizations to offer incentives, such as discounts or free products, for those who participate in the project. Lastly, “keeping momentum” could be an issue; to that end, I will make sure continuous engagement is achieved by organizing follow-up events regularly and creating a community group related to environmental action.

Schools can complement my mini-training session in providing the venue, mobilization of students, and other staff, promotions through any available communication systems at hand, such as newsletters, social media, or notice boards. They further help through outreach to locally interested teachers and students working in related areas of sustainability, as well as take care of logistics so that participation takes place. Additionally, schools can provide their facilities, such as projectors or any other material needed for the session, and offer a network of young people who are willing to learn about sustainability practices.
