Yes! That is really who you are!

I am a passionate and driven individual with a background in Food Science & Nutrition and a deep commitment to public health and sustainability. Growing up as the only girl in my family with two older brothers, one of whom has cerebral palsy, has shaped me into a resilient and compassionate person. Serving as my brother’s caregiver from a young age taught me the importance of empathy, perseverance, and responsibility.
I have always been fascinated by the intersection of nutrition, health, and sustainability. This passion led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology, where I graduated with honors, earning a bronze medal for my academic achievements. Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in food and nutrition, where I have maintained a 4/4 GPA. My academic journey has provided me with a deep understanding of human nutrition, dietetics, and public health, while my internships and research experiences have allowed me to apply this knowledge in real-world contexts.
My commitment to sustainability and public health is evident through my involvement in various initiatives and projects. As the Nestlé Youth Ambassador for my university, I had the opportunity to represent the organization, raising awareness about food security and nutrition among students. I have also volunteered in Pakistan Girl Guide Association and have been actively involved in the Liquid Trees Campaign, which focuses on CO2 removal through microalgae—a project aligned with my belief in environmental sustainability.
I believe in the power of education and community action to drive positive change. Through my experiences as a student, a caregiver, and a volunteer, I have developed a strong sense of purpose: to contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world. Participating in the UPG Sustainability Leadership program would be a transformative opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of sustainability challenges and solutions, while also learning from a diverse group of like-minded individuals.
By combining my knowledge of nutrition with sustainability principles, I hope to develop innovative solutions to food security issues and contribute to creating healthier, more resilient communities. My journey has been one of growth, learning, and service, and I am excited to continue this journey as part of the UPG Sustainability Leadership program, where I can contribute to a better, more sustainable future for all.

Strong leadership skills, collaboration and teamwork, passion for sustainability, resilience and adaptability, strong communication skills, problem-solving mindset, dedication to community empowerment, cultural awareness.

I choose “strong leadership skills” as one of my key strengths. A significant instance where I utilize this strength is when I am selected as the only student from my university to serve as the Nestlé Youth Ambassador. This prestigious role allows me to spearhead various sustainability initiatives on campus, and it serves as a platform for promoting Nestlé’s commitment to sustainability among my peers.
In this role, I take on the responsibility of driving sustainability practices by engaging with various stakeholders across the university. I organize awareness campaigns focused on the importance of sustainability, emphasizing the environmental impact of our daily choices. For example, I lead workshops where I educate students about sustainable eating habits, waste reduction strategies, and the significance of responsible sourcing of food. These sessions are not just informative; they foster discussions that encourage students to share their ideas and solutions regarding sustainability.
To effectively execute these initiatives, I recognize the importance of collaboration. I work closely with different departments, including the environmental science department, student unions, and local NGOs. By collaborating with these groups, I create a more comprehensive approach to sustainability on campus. This involves planning joint events, such as tree-planting drives and clean-up campaigns, where we unite various segments of the university community for a common cause.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience is witnessing the tangible impact of our collective efforts. For instance, after implementing a waste segregation initiative on campus, we see a significant reduction in landfill waste. This success not only motivates me but also inspires my peers to continue striving for sustainable practices.
Being the Nestlé Youth Ambassador allows me to embody the principles of sustainability and leadership, as I work towards creating a culture of environmental responsibility at my university. This experience reinforces my belief that strong leadership, combined with collaboration and community engagement, is essential in driving meaningful change for a sustainable future. Through my actions, I aspire to inspire others to join in this critical journey towards sustainability.

Yes, I have significant volunteer experience that has shaped my skills and perspectives. As a Nestlé Youth Ambassador, I promote sustainability on campus through campaigns and workshops, which has taught me effective communication and the power of collaboration. In my role as a Young Leader in the Pakistan Girl Guide Association, I conduct workshops on nutrition and sustainability for young girls, enhancing my leadership skills and understanding of how education empowers communities. As a supporter of the Liquid Trees Campaign, I raise awareness about environmental benefits, strengthening my advocacy skills and commitment to sustainability. Overall, these experiences have taught me the importance of collaboration, leadership, and advocacy in making a meaningful impact.

Undergraduate: I have completed an undergraduate degree

If I were to lead a sustainability-related project, I would initiate a Community Nutrition and Sustainability Workshop Series in my local community. The goal of this project would be to educate individuals, particularly young girls and women, about the importance of nutrition, sustainable food practices, and environmental awareness.
The workshop series would cover topics such as:
Nutritional Education: Teaching participants about balanced diets, the nutritional value of local foods, and how to prepare healthy meals using seasonal ingredients.
Sustainable Practices: Encouraging practices like reducing food waste, composting, and supporting local farmers by purchasing fresh produce from nearby markets.
Environmental Awareness: Discussing the impact of food choices on the environment, including how plant-based diets can contribute to lower carbon footprints.
Community Engagement: Creating a platform for participants to share their experiences, challenges, and success stories in adopting sustainable practices.
By focusing on nutrition and sustainability, this project aims to empower individuals with knowledge and skills to make healthier choices for themselves and their families while fostering a sense of community. Additionally, collaborating with local schools, healthcare professionals, and agricultural experts would enhance the project’s impact and reach.
Ultimately, this initiative not only addresses public health challenges but also promotes sustainable living practices, creating a more informed and responsible community that prioritizes both personal well-being and environmental health.

In leading the Community Nutrition and Sustainability Workshop Series, I anticipate several challenges:
Engagement and Participation: One challenge may be attracting participants to the workshops, especially in a community where awareness of nutrition and sustainability is low. To overcome this, I would utilize various marketing strategies, including social media campaigns, flyers in community centers, and partnerships with local schools and organizations to promote the workshops. Incentives, such as free healthy snacks or small giveaways, could also encourage attendance.
Resource Availability: Access to resources and materials for conducting the workshops, such as educational materials, cooking supplies, and venue space, may be limited. To address this, I would seek partnerships with local businesses and organizations for sponsorships or donations. Additionally, I would explore grants or funding opportunities specifically for health and sustainability projects.
Diverse Learning Levels: Participants may have varying levels of knowledge about nutrition and sustainability, which could create challenges in effectively communicating the material. To tackle this, I would design the workshops with flexible content that can be adjusted based on the audience’s needs. Incorporating interactive activities, hands-on cooking demonstrations, and group discussions can also enhance understanding and engagement.
Sustaining Interest and Long-term Impact: Maintaining interest in nutrition and sustainability beyond the workshops could be difficult. To ensure long-term engagement, I would establish a community support group or network that meets regularly after the workshops. This would provide participants with ongoing resources, motivation, and a platform to share their progress and experiences.
By proactively addressing these challenges with strategic planning and community involvement, I aim to create a successful and impactful project that promotes nutrition and sustainability within the community.
