I was born into and grew up in a small rural village where gross human right violations, maladministration, Injustice and lack of rule of law highly affected the people. Among other things, there is no access to fair justice in between the poor and the rich.
In 2017, I received my LL.B degree from Bahir Dar University. After graduation, I got the opportunity to properly acquaint myself with the practical skills of lawyering through a year pre-judicial training at the Federal Justice and Legal Research and Training Institute. And for about five consecutive years I have worked as a legal practitioner by being public prosecutor. Mostly the peoples that I served were victims of injustice, victims of maladministration, and victims of ethnic conflict. It enabled me to understand the challenges of the justice system in my country.
I believe one of the best ways to contribute to the rule of law is by nurturing and teaching aspiring lawyers in the country who are going to be leaders in legal, political and economic affairs of my country. Because of this, I joined Debark University School of Law.
Furthermore, my country Ethiopia is sadly wavering in endless conflicts where several civilians are being killed daily, forcefully displaced, trapped in a war and hunger, and separated from their loved ones. All of these emanates from maladministration, lack of sound transitional justice and lack of good governance. For about a year as part of the school’s community service scheme, I did have the opportunity to visit and provide free legal advice to those internally displaced persons (IDPs) and Refugee’s settling at Dabat Camp. Beyond my professional obligation being concerned in humanitarian responses and by considering myself as part of solution finder in Transitional Justice Process I have accomplished a population survey on those peoples who were victims of conflict in Amhara Region which was conducted by Harvard University Humanitarian Initiative Institute with an issue of from June up to July, 2023.
In the long term, after this program I envision myself to be a multidimensional and non-partisan political in my country. Because I aspire to actively and effectively contribute to the prevalence of the rule of law, building the good governance culture, settlement of the conflict quagmire in a scientific way, and transformation of the economic, social and political institutions and systems of my country
