Undergraduate: I have completed an undergraduate degree

If I were to lead a sustainability-related project, it would focus on creating a community composting program. This would reduce organic waste in landfills, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and produce nutrient-rich compost for local gardening or agriculture. It’s simple, impactful, and encourages collective environmental responsibility.

Lack of Awareness: Many people may not understand the importance of composting.

Solution: Conduct workshops and campaigns to educate the community about the benefits of composting.
Participation and Consistency: It might be hard to get consistent participation from residents.

Solution: Introduce incentives, such as discounts on compost or recognition programs for active participants.
Logistics and Infrastructure: Setting up collection points and managing the process can be complex.

Solution: Partner with local waste management companies and secure funding or grants for infrastructure.
Odor and Pest Concerns: Improperly managed compost can attract pests or create unpleasant smells.

Solution: Train volunteers and staff on best practices to maintain odor-free, pest-resistant composting systems.
Regulatory Hurdles: There may be local laws or zoning restrictions that complicate the project.

Solution: Collaborate with local authorities to ensure compliance and secure necessary permits.
