Are you sure? I thought that you HATE all that talk about sustainability!

This is Zekria Khuram from Afghanistan. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development (HRD) in India. I have also completed my MBA in India, and my bachelor’s degree in social sciences was obtained in Afghanistan.
My greatest ambition is to become an expert HR manager dedicated to solving employees’ issues. I firmly believe that human resources are crucial assets for any organization, and without skilled HR professionals, organizations risk losing this invaluable asset.
Thank you.

Suppose I lead a project 4 years ago, I was working as volunteer to promoting sustainable livelihoods in a rural community in Afghanistan. By collaborating with local government bodies, NGOs, and private enterprises, I could combine resources and expertise to provide vocational training, create employment opportunities, and implement eco-friendly practices. This collective effort ensures the initiative’s success, sustainability, and long-term impact while benefiting all stakeholders involved.

Four years ago, I volunteered to lead a project in a rural Afghan community, focusing on promoting sustainable livelihoods. By collaborating with local government bodies, NGOs, and private enterprises, I helped combine resources and expertise to provide vocational training, create employment opportunities, and implement eco-friendly practices. This experience taught me the power of collaboration in achieving sustainable change, as working with diverse stakeholders allowed us to develop inclusive, long-term solutions. I also learned the importance of understanding local contexts, involving the community in decision-making, and balancing environmental, economic, and social goals to ensure the success of sustainability initiatives.

If I were to lead a sustainability-related project in my community or organization, I would focus on empowering local communities through sustainable vocational training and eco-friendly entrepreneurship. Drawing from my experience in Afghanistan, I would collaborate with local government, NGOs, and businesses to create training programs in skills such as renewable energy installation, organic farming, and waste management, while also supporting the development of small, eco-friendly businesses. This project is important because it addresses poverty, unemployment, and environmental degradation by providing individuals, especially women and youth, with opportunities for personal and professional growth. It would promote economic independence, foster local entrepreneurship, and contribute to environmental sustainability, ensuring long-term benefits for both the community and the planet.
|
I expect several challenges in this project, including a lack of resources, community resistance to change, limited access to training, sustaining long-term impact, and ensuring the financial viability of eco-friendly businesses. To overcome these, I would collaborate with local partners to pool resources, engage the community through education and pilot projects, partner with experts for training, build local leadership for sustainability, and provide ongoing business support to ensure the project’s success and long-term growth. Through strategic planning and collaboration, I am confident we can address these challenges and create lasting positive change.
