Yes! That is really who you are!

Throughout my academic years, I partook in micro projects run by Moroccan non-profitable organisations. My main mission as a young change-maker was to come up with long-lasting solutions to environmental, social and economic challenges facing the neighbouring rural areas of Marrakesh, Morocco. The decentralisation of renewable energies was at the heart of my approach as it contributes to the sustainable development of such marginalised communities. Making individuals responsible for the production of energy allows them to meet their needs in terms of energy while stimulating economic and social growth through self-sustaining projects instead of mainly relying on the government.

The position I hold today as an educator serves as a platform to transform sustainable development principles and empower the younger generations to be critical thinkers and address global issues.

Adaptability, Patience, Critical thinking, Team Work, Initiative taking

As an educator, I view myself as a patient percent because teaching is a long term process and progress isn’t always immediately visible. It requires taking small steps to overcome difficulties and making an effort on a daily basis. Teaching also demands dealing with a wide range of students and handling their diverse needs all at a time.

My last volunteering experience was at the High Atlas Foundation, a non-profit association that aims at implementing projects since 2003 to provide financial support and training to help Moroccans in sustainable agriculture, empowerment of women and youth, education, health and capacity building. My mission as a volunteer at the HAF included:
1. Collaborating with a team of professionals to develop and implement capacity building programs for youth.
2. Searching for funds to finance different sustainable development projects.
3. Writing event reports; creation of content for the foundation’s website: blogs (see below), feedback, reviews; note taking during meetings, webinars and events; translation of documents: CV, report, articles, writing texts for fundraising proposals by video; documentation of data in Excel: files, vouchers, form; the search for funders, partners, sponsors; the co-facilitation of face-to-face and remote events.

Graduate: I have completed a graduate degree (e.g. I have a Masters degree or PhD)

As an educator, I acknowledge that schools are nests for shaping younger people into becoming well-rounded individuals that can have a significant impact on their communities, socially, economically and ecologically. Therefore, leading an environmental education program will prepare the students for their journey into the world through appropriate education and training about sustainable development and climate change. The program will also support students through capacity building workshops and will teach them the importance of partnership and collaboration through project-based learning. The program will also incorporate hands-on experience through field trips in order to engage them in real-world applications of sustainability (tree planting, composting, partnering with local communities, etc).

The two major challenges that I might face in the implementation of my project are : Time constraint, given the limited time in the curriculum and parental consent regarding off-site activities.
The most efficient way to overcome these two challenges is by adopting a funnel technique in the implementation of the project. That is, progressing from broad to specific.
Introducing the program through small-scale projects in the school to include as many students as possible and engage parents in the process. This will also allow me and other collaborators to gain a full command of the project management in case of minor issues that arise along the way. Starting small ensures that we start first and then gain enough experience to scale it up and guarantee sustainability.
