I’m Zahra Ainoor Rahman, an undergraduate Japanese Literature student at University of Brawijaya. I’m 18 years old, and I’ve been looking for abroad opportunities since my first year of high school. I have been through a lot of failure, but whenever I met those failures, I keep remembering that I have a big dream. A dream to go abroad, study and gain experiences there. Now I got the opportunity to improve my self value from UPG and I hope that this opportunity can help me to reach my dreams.

Communication, action-oriented

I am action-oriented by not procrastinating and doing my best work, and seeing if what I am doing will have a big impact in the future, whether it is for myself or others. An example is when I work on my college assignments, I work on them earnestly, regularly, and without procrastination, so that I can complete them on time and get good grades.

I don’t have volunteer experience because I used to be very introverted and had a hard time getting along with other people. However, after college, I was moved to participate in social activities that were useful to add to my experience and relationships, because I realized that experience and relationships are much more important than just grades.

Undergraduate: I have completed an undergraduate degree

If I had to lead a sustainable project, I would like to create a project that is engaged in social service. I chose this project because I think that if we are directly involved in helping the community, we can get to know the culture, language, and recognize the problems that the community is experiencing so that we can intervene to help voluntarily.

The challenges I faced in this project were certainly very numerous. Starting from the problem of cost, transportation and accommodation, language differences, and so on. The thing I have to do to overcome these challenges is that I have to recognize the community that I want to help, then I invite or recruit many people to participate, because the more people, the more profit we get and the project will run smoothly. For cost issues, we can look for donors who are willing to help us in our projects. If our project is successful, of course, many people will be interested in helping.
